Who we are
It all started at the beginning of the 1970's, when the Rettenwender family began leasing a small alpine hut (photo) that also served as a youth hostel.
In the following years, Zauchensee underwent a rapid development. Planning got underway for an inn, while we also went ahead and purchased the land. |

Ground was broken in May, 1981 - in December of that same year, the first part of the new inn was opened. In the following summer, the project was complete. As of December 1982, we are able to offer 50 beds, a restaurant and a self-service cafe. The wellness area and underground garage were added in 1990. |

In 1997, the inn was transformed into ****Hotel Alpenrose and expanded to 80 beds. Since 01.01.2001, the second generation of the Rettenwender family has been entrusted with management of the hotel. Every single year since then, we have made investments designed to excite the quality-conscious guest. Our goal is quite simple: to do everything it takes to live up to our motto as "a home away from home".
With sincere regards, the Rettenwender Family!
