Holiday story(ies)

Being hosts is in our blood.

Did you know that where our hotel in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee stands today, there was once “just” a simple alpine hut? Back in the early 1970s, our parents, Hans and Ernestine Rettenwender, saw the potential of this unique location and leased the hut, which they initially ran as a youth hostel. But soon, it became much more...

Away from home, yet right at home – that’s our guiding principle at the Sport & Wellness Hotel Alpenrose. Every day, we and our team do our best to live up to this promise for you.

Over 40 years of history

The youth hostel was only the beginning: in 1981, construction began on a guesthouse. The original 50 beds were expanded to 80 by 1997. A restaurant, underground parking, and a wellness area added even more comfort. When we, Hans and Marlene, took over the hotel in 2001, it was clear to us: we wanted to carry on the hotel in the spirit of our parents, whom we deeply respect, while also ensuring through annual renovations and improvements that the Hotel Alpenrose keeps up with the times – and continues to offer you unforgettable holiday experiences for many years to come.

With heart and soul

Today, four of us, Hans, Marlene and the next generation Hansi and Anna, work hard in the hotel every day. Whether at the front desk or in guest services – direct contact with our guests gives our work meaning, motivates us, and inspires us to do our best. It doesn't matter whether you prefer your privacy, just need a quick tip, or have time for a longer chat: we’re here for you – whenever and however you like. And we truly look forward to welcoming you!
