A little piece of paradise
We’ve already claimed the most beautiful spot.
In summer, green meadows and shady forests gently slope down to our family resort in Salzburg; in winter, the landscape transforms into sparkling snow-covered hills. Located at 1,350 metres in one of the most beautiful high valleys of the Niedere Tauern mountains in Salzburger Land, Zauchensee – with its picturesque lake – is at once a romantic alpine village, a World Cup ski destination, and a modern holiday resort.

How could we not share the joy of living in such a beautiful place with you? Be our guest for a while and let this one-of-a-kind setting work its magic on you.
So much, so close
Once you’ve arrived, you can leave your car parked – all holiday adventures are within walking distance. Whether it’s skiing in winter, hiking, biking, or family activities in summer, or the enchanting "Mountain Lake Advent" during the Christmas season – it’s all right here. Even though Zauchensee has become more well known over the years, you’ll still find undisturbed peace and the authentic charm of an alpine mountain village. The Sport & Wellness Hotel Alpenrose blends seamlessly into this idyllic landscape – from the cozy alpine-style interiors with plenty of wood, to spa treatments using regional natural cosmetics, to our culinary delights from traditional Austrian and Alpine cuisine.
Healthy mountain air in summer
For generations, those who could would escape the cities and spend their summers in the mountains – far from heat, noise, and pollution that strain both body and soul. Here, away from the stress and crowds of everyday life, you can truly breathe freely. Scientific studies now confirm the health benefits of spending time in the mountains and forests. The trees release essential oils called terpenes, which have anti-inflammatory, calming, and mood-lifting effects. And the high-altitude air, from around 1,200 metres upwards, is especially beneficial for allergy and asthma sufferers, thanks to significantly lower levels of pollen and allergens.
